A Particular Reality at the School of Digital Arts (SODA) in collaboration with the People’s History Museum presents:
QUEER KINSHIP: SHARED HISTORIES, SHARED FUTURES

People’s History Museum

17th July

10am – 4:30pm
Queer Kinship responds to the People’s History Museum current exhibition RE/Assemble, which explores one of the largest LGBTQIA+ protests in the UK which took place in Manchester. The protest was against the Section28 Laws brought in by Thatcher, which made it illegal to „promote“ homosexuality and outlawed education around LGBTQIA+ subjects in schools.
Artists Jez Dolan, Yuen Fong Ling, Markus Hetheier and Alice Gale-Feeny will lead different sections of the day navigating between photography, curation, performance and sound.
I will act as sonic documentarian of the event. In a participatory live performance I will intersperse field recordings of the day with samples of soundscape compositions from my practice-based PhD on Manchester’s queer sonic geographies. After the event an edited version of the performance will be made available as sonic souvenir to participants.
As there are a limited number of spots, please email A.Albert@mmu.ac.uk to confirm your attendance.
